What is TimeDivers?

TimeDivers is a platform for creating, managing and sharing digital timelines.

With TimeDivers, you can represent individual events, periods of any duration, historical processes, projects, biographies, corporate histories, investigations, legal cases, work plans and any other information that can be organized over time.

TimeDivers timelines are designed to work across very broad timescales, from ancient historical dates to contemporary events. The platform supports negative years, ongoing periods and live timelines that update automatically using the special Today date.

Each timeline can be enriched with descriptions, images, documents, videos, tags and other resources that help provide context and make the information easier to understand.

TimeDivers offers two ways to view a timeline:

• The vertical view, designed for reading and consulting information.
• The horizontal view, designed for visual exploration and chronological analysis.

Timelines can be shared via a link, embedded on other websites using an embed code and exported in different formats for use in presentations, reports or educational materials.

TimeDivers has been designed to adapt to a wide range of uses, including:

Basic concepts

TimeDivers organizes information around a simple structure: timelines, events and dates.

A timeline is the main container. It groups together events related to the same topic, project, process or narrative.

An event is any item you add to a timeline. It can represent something that happens at a specific moment or something that develops over time. When an event has a start date and an end date, it is what we call a period.

Each event can be organized using tags. Tags are used to classify, filter and find events within the same timeline.

In TimeDivers, creating a timeline essentially consists of defining its general information, adding events and adjusting how it will be displayed or shared.

Based on these concepts, the rest of the manual explains each screen in the application and the actions available within it.
